ACCURACY

A computer model of the front wing of an f 1 car.

The FAST-CAST wax pattern process provides exceptional precision. Utilizing Blue-Light scanning, we can identify all shrink anomalies and seamlessly modify the FAST-MOLD instantly.

Additionally, our ability to reverse engineer casting trials and fine-tune the FAST-CAST pattern, produces exceptional accuracy.

EQUIPMENT

A machine that is sitting in the middle of a room.

Upon our inception, our team’s policy has consistently emphasized the acquisition of state-of-the-art equipment while maintaining uniformity across the entire facility.

Our business model is founded on standarization and efficiency.

MATERIALS

We stock a few Paramelt products that we have found superior.

  • Dark Green Reclaim Wax
  • Virgin Wax
  • Gate Blend
  • Light Green Wax
  • Dark Red wax
  • Liquid or Paste
  • We can use your wax too!

DELIVERY

We deliver daily to the Northwest, and we have had great success supplying wax patterns to our national customers. Pattens are individually wrapped in a FAST-CAST Setter which holds the pattern dimensionally through UPS overnight shipments.

CASE STUDY: 3D printed -VS- FAST-CAST?

Challenges faced by the Investment Casting Supplier

  • The investment casting supplier attempted to process 3D printed wax patterns from an external vendor.
  • High costs were incurred due to engineering, printing prices and dimensional control during shipping.
  • Surface finish, dimensional issues and process anomalies persisted and where difficult to get consistency.
  • Frustration continued from 3D printing quality and delays caused by print times and equipment.

Pacific Pattern Technologies’ Solution

  1. New Shrink Model Integration:
    • Using Siemens NX, Poly-Works and Blue-Light scanning, we extracted casting process data by comparison to the  3D-printed model.
    • We incorporated the casting process results and our pre-engineered wax shrinkages to create a new process model.
  2. Fast-Cast Injected Wax Pattern Trials:
    • Within 10 days upon generating the process model, we injected 25 FAST-CAST wax patterns for dimensional trials and shipped to casting supplier in dimensional controlled FAST-SETTERS.
  3. Precision Profile Assessment:
    • The new casting trial’s scan data revealed that the blade profile was +.002 and the flow path was + .004.
  4. Swift Profile Adjustment:
    • In two days, we reduced the blade profile and fine-tuned the flow path, the subsequent batch of patterns precisely met all dimensional requirements producing production quality investment castings.
    • We continued with this adjustment and overnight shipped batches of 100 parts per week with less than 2% breakage, all for significantly less than the costs of 3D printed wax patterns!
  5. Shipping, Temperature Control & Shelf Live:
    • The casting supplier found using FAST-SETTERS held dimensional integrity throughout shipping and foundry temperature variations, additionally extending pattern shelf life and minimizing handling warpages.

At Pacific Pattern Technologies, we pride ourselves on innovative solutions, rapid turnaround, and exceeding industry standards. Join us as we continue to shape the future of tooling and pattern development.

ABOUT FAST-CAST Technology

FAST-CAST, originally concepted in 1994 as part of a multi-OEM turbine engine development team that was organized for the purpose to develop investment castings faster for turbine engine components. By 1996 a solution was developed and confirmed as a fixed process suitable for making wax patterns. Then, difficult to obtain acceptance of the new and different process, Pacific Pattern Technologies has further developed the process to compete with 3D-Printed patterns and offers the wax patterns supplied directly to your floor!

FAST-CAST SETTERS

Our proprietary FAST-CAST Shipping Setter offers full dimensional control for critical surfaces and holds the wax pattern in position for shipping overnight. The setter can be further used at the foundry to prevent damage and maintain stability waiting for investing.

  • Parts are shipped in Setter
  • Inexpensive Shipping Solution
  • Light weight
  • Proprietary Epoxy Blend
  • Hard for durability
  • Excellent Dimensional Control
